Samsung to begin mass production of two new 10nm processors by end of 2017

According to a new report out of Korea, Samsung has stated that they will start manufacturing two new 10-nm processors by the end of 2017. These new processors would be mass produced, one of them towards the end of this year, and the other in the beginning of next year.

The Samsung Exynos 8895 and the Snapdragon 835 both use 10-nm FinFet process technology. And both of these chips would soon be found on the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphones. Samsung is the first company to mass produce these 10-nm processors.

The 10-nm chipsets are much better and faster than the older 14nm chips. They are about 20 percent faster and about 40 percent more efficient. The company will mass manufacture a new Low Power Performance 10-nm chip and another Low Power Ultimate chip.

Till date, Samsung has shipped over 70,000 of these 10-nm chip wafers, since it began production in October last year. However, since most smartphones in 2017 and 2018 are going to rely on these new chipsets, the company is definitely doing right by increasing production.
